What Does Peter 4:8 Mean?

‘Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.’ NIV

Again and again the New Testament tells us to love one another, what
is startling about the instruction as we find it here is the statement: ‘because love covers over a multitude of sins’. Does this mean that as long as we love one another anything goes? Surely not. Covering is not the same as removing. I see it more like a bandage which covers a raw wound, the wound remains but the
healing has begun. What do you think?
