5 Ways To Love Like Jesus

how to love like jesus

The gospel of Jesus Christ is based on love, and we are to love like He does. God loved us and sent Jesus to die for our sins so that we would not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16).

No one is beyond the love of Christ in the world and when we accept Him as our Savior, His love dwells in our hearts. In the Bible, it is shown how to love others like Jesus.

❤ God’s love for us is unconditional, and we don’t do anything to deserve it. We are to receive God’s love into our hearts and allow it to flow into the lives of others around us. He showed us how to love others, and we are to follow His example with 5 ways to love like Jesus.

1) Show Kindness

By being kind to our neighbors and others we encounter every day, we are showing them the love of Christ. To love like Christ be kind to others even when we don’t think they deserve it. We can help others out of the goodness of our hearts and put a smile in their faces.

compassion

Instead of treating others in an impersonal way, we can be friendly and kind with them even when we don’t know them. The love of Christ is not only for those we know but the strangers we meet along the way as well.

“And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you”
Ephesians 4:32

2) Pray for Others

Prayer is powerful and invites God to intervene in the lives of others. Jesus wants us to pray for others so that He can move in their situations and give them a breakthrough from their troubles.

🙏 We don’t have to pray for others only when they are having trouble, but all the time. When you have nothing else to offer someone, you can pray for them and trust that God will answer that prayer.

“And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people”
Ephesians 6:18

3) Love Others the Way you Love Yourself

For us to love like Jesus did, we have to start by loving ourselves. You can only love others and do things for them the way you do for yourself. If you are to love yourself unconditionally, receive God’s love, which He freely gives you.

god loves

Love is a fruit of the Spirit and it exists in our hearts when we accept Christ and have the indwelling of the Holy Spirit in our hearts. With a heart full of God’s love, you can love others even those who behave in an unloving way toward you.

“And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself’”
Matthew 22:29

4) Show Patience

1 Corinthians 13:4 says that love is patient, and when we show patience to others, we are showing them the love of Christ. As patient people, we are to bear with one another and give others room to grow and become more like Christ.

We are to treat others with patience wherever we go because people are different from us and we don’t know the battles they face each day. It’s hard to be patient with others in this fast paced world where we want things done instantly. But if we take the time to be patient, we will be sharing God’s love with others.

“Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.”
Ephesians 4:2

5) Love your Enemies

Not everyone you encounter is your friend and others will become your enemies for reasons best known to them. Just because others hate us and choose to persecute us doesn’t mean that we are to treat them the same way. Jesus wants us to love them and pray for them because He knows they need His saving power.

When we love our enemies, we are demonstrating that with Christ in our hearts, we can love them and desire the best for them. Jesus did not want us to return evil for evil 👿 but to overcome evil with good. By praying for our enemies, we are inclined to let go of the ill will we have for them in our hearts because of what they have done to us.

“But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you”
Matthew 5:44

Conclusion: How to Love Like Jesus?

God is love and if we call ourselves godly, then we need to show others the love of Christ. Love is something we show others whether they deserve it or not in obedience to God.

It can be hard to love those we consider difficult but the grace of God will help us do it. Pray for a loving and caring heart toward others, and that you will be a reflection of the love of Christ in the world.
